How to clean a drape coat?

Drape is a heavy material from a double plexus of woolen threads that does not wrinkle, does not fade and does not fade. But at the same time, such a product is very afraid of hot water and moisture, it can significantly decrease in size. That is why before buying, you should study the basic rules for caring for a coat of drap.

What can and cannot be done?

A coat of this material is rather capricious in leaving and easily attracts all kinds of dust, dirt and wool. But it should be understood that washing such a product at home is unlikely to succeed. Moreover, to do this in the washing machine, hanging up to dry and stroking like normal linen. Such a thing requires gentle dry cleaning or, in extreme cases, thorough cleaning of the house with the use of non-aggressive agents.

Thus, a draped coat should never be washed. It is also not recommended to use an iron to dry and iron the product. Experts recommend using a steam generator or ironing the fabric through a thin cotton towel.

Dry cleaning method

This is the most gentle method for cleaning the coat, which will allow you to put the product in order and leave it in its original form. The action algorithm is quite simple:

  • hang the coat on a hanger and fasten all buttons and zippers;
  • armed with a dry brush or sticky roller, walk it over the entire surface of the product;
  • leave the coat in a well-ventilated area for ventilation and drying.

Important! If necessary, you can use a steam generator or steamer to bring the product into shape and easier to clean the dirt.

In this way, they clean their outer clothing from wool and dirt stuck in the villi. Usually this procedure is quite painstaking, as small hairs do not want to “leave” the fabric.

For moderate washing and removal of small impurities, you can use ordinary washing powder. The product is laid on a horizontal surface, powder is scattered on it and rubbed with your hand into the fabric. Leave to lie down for an hour, and then rinse off with a slightly damp cloth.

Wet method

Using a slightly moistened sponge or brush, you can clean the coat from small spots, dust and dirt. To do this, a well-wrung sponge passes over the entire surface of the coat, cleaning off the adhering dirt.

Important! After processing with wet materials, the coat should be thoroughly dried with natural ventilation. Do not use a hairdryer, fan or heating appliances for this, this can lead to a complete loss of the product of its qualities and appearance.

To remove more serious dirt, you can use a carpet cleaner or conditioner. The first substance is foamed and applied to the surface of the product so that the fabric is not wet. After a while, the dirty foam is brushed off and wiped with a damp sponge.

You can also use a small amount of fabric softener to wash laundry diluted in clean water. A soft sponge is moistened in this solution and passed over the entire surface of the product. Then the composition should be washed off with a damp, clean cloth and let the draped coat dry.

Subtleties of cleaning sleeves and collar

Sleeves and a collar tend to shine during prolonged wear of the coat. If the spots are not too large, you can use the crumb of brown bread. They need to rub the overgrown places, giving their original appearance.

For more extensive scuffs, use a mixture of sodium chloride and ammonia in a ratio of 1: 4. Using a swab or soft sponge moistened in solution, glossy spots are removed with intense movements.

Important! Before using such a composition for cleaning, you should check its effect on a small, inconspicuous area of the coat. If the material does not change color under the influence of aggressive substances, you can proceed with cleaning.

How to clean stains?

To clean the product from dirt and stains that invariably appear on the surface during wear, there is an effective method that involves the use of soap solution. All actions must be performed quickly, trying not to spoil the thing:

  • hang the coat on the shoulders;
  • dilute a soap solution;
  • moisten a soft sponge or brush;
  • walk with a sponge over the entire surface of the coat, cleaning off the dirt;
  • allow the product to dry with natural ventilation.

Important! Before using this method, a dry brush should be cleaned with a regular brush, removing dry dirt and dust.

Mistresses should remember these methods and use them if necessary. If there is a fear of spoiling the product or a woman is not confident in her own abilities, it is better to use the services of a professional dry cleaning service.
