Brioche: how to knit in this technique

Knitting is a fascinating relaxing activity. A variety of techniques, patterns, yarn and various master classes only enhances interest in this type of needlework. Brioche is one of the youngest knitting techniques. Most often, it is used to create spectacular and unusual convex patterns.

Features of the brioche technique

The basis of a knitted fabric in this technique is the usual English (patent) elastic, but with minor changes. With the help of decreases and increases of certain loops, pattern lines are created, and the pattern itself is limited only by the flight of imagination and the level of knowledge of knitting skills.

Thanks to the alternation of two threads, knitting has no wrong side: the pattern looks the same on both sides, the difference is only in color. Cloths connected in the brioche technique are characterized by good elasticity, which allows knitting hats, berets, snoods, scarves and other elements of the wardrobe.

How to knit using the brioche technique

For knitting in this technique you will need:

• Yarn of the necessary colors;
• Knitting needles with fishing line of the right size;
• Scissors.

Important! It is necessary to choose yarn of the same size with an identical or similar composition, otherwise the knitting will not be even enough and will lose its aesthetics.

The algorithm for knitting the following:

• We pick up an odd number of loops of the first color on the knitting needles. We remove the hem, we knit the second with the front, then we double the yarn and remove the next loop after it on the right knitting needle without knitting. Again we knit one front and alternate until the end of the row. The last loop in each row is the wrong one.
• In the second row, you need to enter the second color into the work. Turn the product over and knit the front edge loop in a new color. We crochet and transfer the next loop. The third, formed by the crochet on the previous row, is picked up together with the fourth and knit in one front.
• We move the fabric from one knitting needle to another in order to continue knitting with a thread of the first color. We remove the edge, we sew the second loop together with the crochet on the wrong side. We perform the crochet and again remove the next loop. We repeat the algorithm to the end of the row.
• Both threads were on one side of the canvas, which means you need to turn the work around. The fourth row is carried out with a thread of the second color. Remove the first loop, double crochet and remove the next. Next, the crochet along with the loop we knit the wrong side.
• Again we move the knitting to the other end of the knitting needles. We remove the hem, double crochet with the loop we carry out the front. Next, the yarn follows, we remove the loop behind it. Finish again the wrong edge.

Next, it remains to repeat the pattern from the second to fifth row. The brioche pattern is ready.
