How to stretch a leather jacket

Leather things are versatile, stylish, comfortable. In modern fashion, such products are in demand, due to their qualities and properties. If the leather jacket is not suitable in size, small, tight - this is not a reason to throw it away. Leather things are possible to stretch. This article will figure out how to do this at home.

Preliminary procedures

It is IMPORTANT to make sure: the jacket is made of genuine leather or not. If the material is artificial, it may not be able to withstand various modifications: there will be stretch marks, spots, a thing can simply break.

Determine the required degree of stretching: 1.2 sizes or more. Pay attention to the color, thickness of the skin. All these factors must be considered. Choose a method depending on them.

Try to increase the size without special procedures. They may not be needed. Put on some warm sweatshirts, then a jacket, walk around like that for a few hours. Soft skin undergoes rapid stretching, the procedure will take about an hour. For thick, dense skin, it may take more time, repeated repetitions. If it doesn’t help, use aids.

If the jacket is small by more than one size, find the one to whom it will suit. If a person puts on a lot of warm clothes under the product and spends several hours in it, the natural material will stretch.

Spray or foam

Funds are sold in any shoe stores, they are designed for stretching leather shoes. Take the right thing and carefully spray it on the outside. If there is no lining, pay attention to the inside. Put on some warm clothes to create extra volume, then put on a jacket. Spend about an hour, remove and let dry. Repeat as necessary.

IMPORTANT: for hard, dense species, you must first allow the product to soak: leave the product for half an hour.

Soap

Take fragrance-free soap / dye soap, warm water. Mix them in a ratio of 1: 4. Add the resulting mixture to the spray bottle and moisten the product with plenty. If it is necessary to stretch a thing very much, process both sides: external and internal.

Put on a thick sweater, over - a jacket, spend about 40 minutes in it. After removal, re-treat, put on and remain in it until the soap has completely dried. After that, remove the remains with a damp cloth.

REFERENCE : the method is not suitable for thick leather products: soap does not impregnate the material.

Vegetable oil

Pour the necessary amount of oil into the pan, wait until it boils. Treat the surface of the jacket with oil (be careful!). For convenience, use a cloth or a thick cloth. Put on the product, spend a few hours in it. Try to bend your arms as little as possible to avoid the formation of the effect of “elongated elbows”. Periodically oil the places that are most tight. After the procedure, rinse thoroughly with warm water and dry.

Soaking + Glycerin

Take a container of a suitable size, pour hot water into it.

REFERENCE: the temperature should not exceed 60 degrees, otherwise the product will deteriorate. Put the necessary thing in the container so that it is completely in the water.

Wait about 2 hours: during this time the material will be saturated with water, soften, its color will become more even.

"Packing": take the required number of things, put them in packages. Remove the jacket from the container and hang it on your shoulders. Fasten the product, tightly and carefully fill it with the prepared material. Take it to fresh air, let it dry completely (about 5 hours).

REFERENCE: it is better to choose those intervals of the day when the sun is not very bright. Avoid getting the best direct sunlight on the material, they negatively affect its structure.

After drying, thoroughly treat the entire surface of the item with glycerin. For convenience, dampen a cloth, cloth, or sponge. The procedure removes moisture from the material and gives it shine and a familiar gloss. Then take the jacket out to fresh air again: it will take about 6 hours to absorb the glycerin. Only after complete drying is it necessary to remove the packing from the product.

Laundry soap

To begin, soak the product in hot water.

It is IMPORTANT to constantly maintain high temperature, but not to allow it to rise to 60 degrees - this threatens surface deformation.

Take half a liter of water at the same temperature and dissolve a piece of laundry soap in it. Mix thoroughly and pour the liquid into the spray bottle. Take out the jacket, hang it on your shoulders and moisten it with plenty of the resulting solution: both outside and inside. After processing, dry it for 5 hours in the fresh air. After drying, stuff it tightly with various soft rags or clothes, leave it in this position for 24 hours. Then remove the packing and thoroughly rinse the remnants of soap from the material, dry it again in fresh air.
