Knitting: men's cardigan with knitting needles and crochet (diagrams with descriptions)

Often we hear the phrase: "The best gift is a gift made by yourself." In our time, it seems: everything that can be thought of as a gift has long been made and has been produced. Nevertheless, a thing connected independently is now valued no less than before. It is especially nice to receive such a gift from a loved one. Therefore, dear ladies, if you want to completely please a close man, feel free to arm yourself with the necessary tool and sit down at work. And we will provide you with some interesting options.

Reference! The name "jumper" comes from the English jumper, which translates as "jumper". At the end of the XVIII century, the jumper was associated with men's sportswear, but already in the 19th century the fashion for sweaters came to the women's wardrobe. Then they began to be used as part of uniforms in elite educational institutions.

We knit a men's sweater with our own hands: models and schemes

And today, a knitted jumper has not lost its popularity, because it can be made of any material: wool, cotton, blended yarn. The collar of this product is round or square. There are no fasteners either front or back, but lightning or buttons may be present at the neck. Some models have a hood.

Materials and Tools

To the question: “What is better to knit a jumper, knitting or crocheting?” - there is no answer. It’s like the eternal struggle of sports equipment for winter outdoor activities: skiing or snowboarding. As you know, it all depends on personal preferences, experience and convenience. To choose the most suitable tool for you, try knitting small sections of the canvas with knitting needles and a crochet. What turns out to be easier and more pleasant for you - stop at that. In the end, you can always change your preferences on this issue.

Knitting needles and hooks are made of different materials: steel, wood, plastic. This affects their cost and durability. The tool is selected depending on the thickness of the thread, usually a knitting needle or hook is 2 times thicker than the thread. But depending on the desires or preferences, the craftswomen can change this rule. If you take the tool thicker, knitting will turn out more airy. If the needle or hook is thinner - the canvas will come out more dense.

Reference! The above two standard knitting tools are not the only ones. Exotic options include knitting using a special fork for openwork knitting (used with a hook) or hands. In the latter case, thick yarn is taken, and the products are voluminous and knit very quickly.

With the choice of yarn for a sweater, everything is much simpler. Decide on the model and study the recommendations for it, suitable threads and the size of the knitting needles or hook will always be indicated there.

For knitting a sweater, any kind of yarn is used:

  • Cotton or linen yarn (natural or with the addition of artificial fiber) is suitable for a warmer season.
  • Wool threads can be suitable for spring and autumn.
  • Woolen yarn is very warm, it is better to use it for winter products.
  • Silk yarn is perfect for all seasons, it can be in various combinations with cotton, synthetics and wool.

Advice! If the thread you choose seems too thin, connect two skeins into one ball. Moreover, it will be even more convenient to take a thread from a ball for work.

Model selection

So, there is a desire to create for a loved one, it is up to the small thing to choose a model. We have selected some of them for you. They significantly differ from each other both in the composition of the thread, and in the method of knitting, and in the tool used.

Knitting a men's raglan sweater

We present to your attention an interesting model of men's seamless sweater with a zipper polo collar.

It fits from the neck on circular knitting needles. A seamless version of a sweater has its undeniable advantages:

  • Actually the lack of seams. Often seams can crush and rub.
  • Details are not sewn together after knitting, there is no need to spend time on this.
  • You can easily change the length of the product.
  • The ends of the threads are few. This is a big plus if you have to dissolve the product.

Of course, there are also disadvantages. For example, there are quite a few loops in the work, and also not every pattern can be connected in this way.

For work, we need:

  • half-woolen yarn (50/50 wool and arkil - 100m / 50g);
  • circular knitting needles No. 4 and hook No. 3;
  • pins for removed loops;
  • markers;
  • lightning (20 cm).

Knitting description

The product is knitted mainly by the usual facial stitch, there are also gum 1 * 1 and 2 * 2 (1LP * 1IP and 2LP * 2IP alternate, respectively). Elements such as a hollow double elastic band and a fancy pattern are also used.

The density of knitting in the area of 10 * 10 cm - 19 loops in 22 rows.

The jumper is made using the Irish Raglan technique.

For girth of the neck (OS) in 50 cm with a density of knitting 1.9p. in 1 cm we’ll type 96p. (50 cm * 1.9p./cm).

Gateway:

Knit typed 96p. in the technique of rotary loops with a 2 * 2 elastic band on knitting needles up to a height of 16 cm.

Loop distribution:

On the shoulder with a width of 13 cm we will use 22p., For the back with a front of 26p. (96p - 2 * 22p. = 52p., 52p. / 2 = 26p.). Before, we will also divide it into two parts, because lightning will be sewn into the polo collar.

Scheme 1 - Hinges for different parts of the sweater

We knit the first 13p. (number 1 on "Scheme 1") LP and transfer them to a pin. Then, plot the number 2 (22p.) We knit with an elastic band 2 * 2. We knit all the remaining sections and transfer them to separate pins. Instead of pins, you can use knitting needles, but there is a risk that the loops will slip off them.

Shoulders:

We knit in the area 2 the shoulder to the required length with an elastic band 2 * 2. In this example, the length is 18 cm. We postpone knitting by transferring the open loops at the end of the shoulder to the pin. We attach the thread to the beginning of the other shoulder, knit similarly to the first.

Back (to armhole):

For clothing size 54, the number of loops for the back is 103p. Individual loops can be calculated by measuring the width of the back from one armhole to another and multiplying by the density of knitting.

  • To already dialed 26p. backs should be added 103p.-26p. = 77p. (round to a smaller even - 76p.). Along the length of the shoulders from side A (Scheme 1) from the edge loops we dial 76p. / 2 = 38p. in three stages: 13p. + 13p. + 12p. (divide 38p. by 3). We separate the indicated number of loops with markers.
  • We translate 26p. backs on knitting needles, from the wrong side we attach the thread to the neck from the edge. We knit 1 wrong side of the back, then turn the knitting.
  • From the loops along the edge on the right shoulder we derive a hook (from left to right) 13p. to the first marker (in the opposite direction from the course of knitting). Thus, on the working needle will be 13p. more. We knit 26p. backs of LP and we get from edge loops in the direction of knitting 13p. to the first marker of the left shoulder.
  • We unfold the knitting and knit the PI without the first loop to the end of the row (13p. + 26p. + 13p.). Let's expand the work again. We get to the second marker of the right shoulder 13p., We knit typed, 13p. + 26p. + 13p., In the end also to the second marker on the left shoulder we get 13p. We unfold the knitting, we knit the entire wrong side as described above. In the same way, we perform the last addition of loops for the back. The sprout will come out about 3 cm high.

Reference! A sprout is the distance between the height of the back and the front, which prevents the product from pulling in the back and “strangling” in front.

With an armhole height of 28 cm and a knitting density of 2.2 p / cm, we need 31 front rows to knit it. We knit 28r. facial smoothness. In the next 6 rows in each front add sequentially from both sides 2p., 3p., 4p. The total number of loops will be 103p. + 2 * (2p. + 3p. + 4p.) = 121p. (64 cm wide). Transfer these loops to the pin.

Before:

  • We get the loops for knitting the front in a manner similar to the back, only we do it in two stages, and not in three (side B according to Scheme 1). To open 13p. on each side of the gate add 38p. (19p. In each call).
  • At the same time, from the moment of a complete set of loops for each side, we knit the “Rhombus” pattern in Figure 2. In the pattern repeat 22p.

Figure 2 - Fantasy Pattern

  • In the back row of the first extension of the loops on side B (Scheme 1), the basis of the rapport should be taken into account and according to the distribution of the loops in Scheme 2, knit the necessary LP or PI. We begin to knit the pattern from the 5th row of the front.
  • We knit the front part to the required fastener length, remove the loops on a pin and similarly knit the second part of the front. After we combine in one fabric and knit to the bottom of the armhole with the same additions as on the back. The number of loops in the front is 120p.

Then we connect the back and in front of the sweaters on circular knitting and knit with the front stitch, taking into account the rapports in front to a total length of 62 cm (on the back). Then we knit 6 cm with an elastic band 1 * 1, and the last 2p. We use a double "hollow" gum. Close all the loops.

Sleeves:

For a sleeve width of 44–45 cm, it is necessary to type 80–84 p from the edge loops of the shoulder and armhole.

  • On the knitting needles we transfer the shoulder loops in the amount of 22p. On the right side, on the right, attach the thread, on the right from 22p. we will crochet 1p. We knit left without the first loop. At the end, add 1p. from an edge armhole. In the same way, we knit to the bottom of the armhole, 2p will be added in each front row. "New" loops are knitted with front stitch.
  • Upon reaching 58p. on the sleeve in the next eight rows add 24p. (2 + 2 + 3 + 5p. In each row). Total we get 82p. sleeves. We connect the loops in a circle, knit to a length of 51 cm, we decrease at the same time along the entire length of the sleeve 32p. When 50p remains on the knitting needles, we knit 6 cm elastic bands in the format 1 * 1. In the last 2 rows are knitted similarly to the main fabric.

We knit the second sleeve in the same way.

Assembly:

It remains only to sew in the zipper, tying its edge from the outer part of the product with a crochet hook in one row.

Knitting Men's Cotton Sweater

Products made of cotton yarn are good in late spring or early summer, they are very hot, and such things look very impressive. We offer you a model of mixed yarn based on beige cotton in size XL.

You will need:

  • yarn from cotton and acrylic in the ratio 1/1, it is possible with the addition of other material, the skein weighs 50 g per 130 m;
  • straight knitting needles 3 and 3.5.

Knitting description

Knitting Technique:

  • Gum 2 * 2 - alternate 2 drugs and 2 PI.
  • Facial surface. On the front side - LP, on the wrong side - IP.
  • Shawl knitting. Each time, turning the work, we knit LP.
  • A fantasy pattern in which there must be an even number of loops.

The first front row: 1LP + * 1 yarn + 2LP * 1 yarn + 1LP (repeat until the end of the row the order of the loops between **).

We knit the first wrong side of the IP, yarn - also IP.

The second front row: we knit 3 PIs, transfer them to the left knitting needle and knit the 2nd and 3rd together through the 1st. And so on until the end of the row.

The second wrong side is LP.

A plot of 10 cm * 10 cm is knitted with number 3.5 needles, we get 22 loops and 30 rows.

Back:

We dial 126p. on knitting needles number 3, we knit with an elastic band 2 * 2 6 cm (24 p.). For the largest size in the last row of gum, add 2p evenly. Then we change the needles to number 3, 5, we knit:

  • 23.5 cm (70 rub.) With front stitch;
  • 4 p. garter stitch;
  • 8.5 cm (26 p.) Facial stitch;
  • 4 p. garter stitch.

Then we knit the fabric with the front surface. After 43 cm (136 p.) From the beginning of knitting, we close symmetrically 3p for the sleeves. After that for 2p. from each edge we decrease sequentially in each 2 row 38 * 1p .;

At the same time, after knitting 5 cm (16 p.) From the first closed loops for raglan bevel, we knit 4 rows of garter stitch, then 22 p. fancy pattern, again 4 rows of garter stitch. Then we knit the front surface.

Having reduced the last loop for raglan, we knit one row, consisting of 46p., Close all the loops under the neckline.

Before:

The beginning fits in the same way as in the back.

  • After knitting the first 43 cm (136 p.) Of the product, we close the sleeves symmetrically in 3p. After that for 2p. from the edge of the work on both sides we decrease in each 2 row 34 * 1p ..
  • At the same time, we knit 5 cm (16 p.) From the first decrease for the bevel, we knit 4 rows of scarf knitting, 22 rows of fancy pattern, again 4 rows of scarf knitting and continue knitting with the front stitch.
  • At the same time, after 64 cm (196 p.) From the beginning of knitting in the center of the canvas for the neck in the middle, close 22p.
  • Next, we knit each resulting part separately and close along the edge of the cut for each 2nd row 1 * 4p., Then 2 * 3p. and 1 * 2p. After we close the remaining 4 loops.

Left sleeve:

  • We collect 58 stitches on the number 3 knitting needles and knit 6 cm (24 p.) Elastic bands in the 2 * 2 format. We change the knitting needles to number 3.5, we knit with the front stitch, symmetrically adding at the edges for 2p. to the edge in each 8 row 12 * 1p. + in each 6 - 5 * 1p.
  • At the same time, after knitting 36 cm (114 p.) From the beginning of knitting, we knit 4 rows of scarf knitting + 8.5 cm (26 p.) Of the front surface + 4 rows of scarf knitting. Then we knit the resulting smooth surface obtained 92p. After knitting 50 cm (158 rubles) from the bottom, we close for the sleeve symmetrically in 3p. After that, we decrease on the right as we diminished on the back, and on the left - as on the front. We close on the left side in every second row: 1 * 4p., 1 * 3p., 1 * 2p., 1 * 1p. Close the last 4p.
  • At the same time, 5 cm (16 p.) From the first closed loop for raglan we knit 4 rows of garter stitch + 22 p. fancy pattern + 4 rows of scarf knitting. After the facial surface is fitted.

Right sleeve:

It fits, like the left one, only the raglan from above is executed in the other direction.

Neckline (placket):

We put on knitting needles number 3 118p., Then we knit an elastic band 2 * 2 10 rows, put off the loops.

Product Assembly:

  • To start, ragged seams are performed, then a strap to the neck is sewn with a kettel seam.
  • Sew shorter edges at the strap.
  • After that, we sew on the seam of the sleeve and sides of the sweater.

Crochet a men's sweater

Many believe that only openwork summer women's sweaters or children's clothing can be crocheted. But this is far from the case. There are models of men's sweaters that fit perfectly with this simple tool.

In order to show you the possibilities of using the hook when knitting large items, we picked up a rather brutal, but original model of a dark gray sweater.

Appearance and description of preparation for crochet sweaters

Description of the stages of knitting

Back:

We take a hook 3, 5 and we knit 16 air loops. On 15 of them, a gum of peppered type is knitted (see. “Scheme 3”). By hook number 4 we attach the right thread to the side of the gum genuine, we knit 1 air loop. We knit 109 single crochet, distributing evenly along the longer edge. We turn the knitting.

We execute a granite pattern ("Scheme 3").

Scheme 3 - Description and schematic representation of the patterns used

We continue to knit the product with a repetition of the four rows shown in the diagram. After 41 cm from the set edge, we stop looping after the front row.

The next (wrong) row is knitted according to the scheme 1 air loop, 1 single crochet in each st. b / n, turn the product.

Armholes:

The front row is as follows: 1 connecting column in the first 13p., Then 1 air loop, after the granite pattern to the last 12. Turn the product, leaving the last loops. Thus, there will be 85p.

Next is a granite pattern, we stop after 67 cm from the set edge.

The second side fits in the same way, only on the front side of the neck we let through the center 29p. and in the next loop we attach the thread with a connecting column, then 1 air. P.

Neckline:

The next (persons.) Row will be gr. pattern on the first 28p., turn the product without knitting other loops. We continue the pattern on this side, and after 70 cm from the set edge, we finish knitting.

For the second part, we skip 29p in the center, connecting the thread with the help of a joint. column in the next loop, then 1 air. p. And repeat the knitting pattern of the first side.

Before:

Knits like a back. After 62 cm from the set edge after knitting the wrong row, we finish knitting.

Neckline:

We knit the next (front) row using gr. pattern on the first 37p., then skip 15p. and attach the thread from another skein to the next loop. We knit 1 air. p., then continue to the end of column pattern.

At the same time we knit two sides using different skeins of thread. We reduce from the side of the neck in each row 7 * 1p., Then 1p. through a row, leaving 27p. at both sides.

We knit with a granite pattern to the length of the back, then finish.

Sleeves:

  • We knit 21 cm (first typing 11 VP.) Crochet at number 3.5 with a 10p cross-elastic pattern. Then we finish knitting.
  • Using the hook number 4, we attach the thread from the edge to the right to the longer part of the elastic, then we knit 1 air. n. In the same way, evenly distribute 35 b / n columns along the longer edge of the product. We turn the knitting.
  • We knit the next (out) row according to the scheme: 1 air. item, then 1 b / n column in each b / n column to the end of the product. We turn the knitting.
  • We knit with a granite pattern, adding 1p. from both edges 27 times in every second row. In every 4th –2p. (93p.).
  • Having knitted 52 cm from the typesetting edge, we finish the sleeve.

Product Assembly:

  • We perform seams on the shoulders.
  • We make the neckline from the front with a hook number 3.5, attaching the thread to the lower edge of the left front neck. We knit 1 air. p., then one row of b / n columns along the neckline. Finish knitting, securing and cutting the thread.
  • Next, with a hook 3.5 we knit 6 air. p. We knit 5 loops with a transverse elastic along the length of the neck. Finish knitting.
  • Sew in place the neck with a seam in the center back.
  • We grind the sleeves, connect the product on the sides and the sleeves at the seams.
  • We hide the ends of the threads, and also make the knitted sweater lock.

The jumper is ready!
