Jockey pattern

Spring has come and you want to look fashionable? We offer to sew a stylish jockey - a hat for true fashionistas. Such a hat will emphasize your elegance and add romance to the image. You can choose any material for a jockey: both fabric and leather are great for this model.

What measurements are needed to build a pattern

For a perfect headgear fit, you need to take only two measurements:

  • head circumference (OG);
  • distance from crown to edge of cap.

IMPORTANT ! When taking exhaust gas measurements, the centimeter tape should be tightly pulled over the head. Otherwise, the future hat will be great for you.

How to make a pattern

For the future jockey, you will need to carve 12 identical wedges:

  • 6 from the main fabric;
  • 6 from a heater.

In addition, you need to prepare two parts of the visor and the same part from the bortovka. And also need a strip of fabric for the rack.

  • The base of the triangle of each wedge should be 1/6 OG.
  • The height of the triangle is the distance from the crown to the edge of the jockey minus the width of the rack.
  • The length of the visor along the inner edge is ½ OG.
  • The outer edge depends on how wide you decide to make a visor.
  • The length of the rack is equal to the exhaust gas, width 3 cm.

IMPORTANT! During the cutting of fabric, do not forget to make allowances for seams of 0.5-1 cm.

How to sew a jockey

Visor

First, a visor is formed. The parts are folded face to face, and a flange is applied from below. All together grinds along the outer contour. Further along the same seam, but already on the front side, a 1 mm stitch is laid. Due to this, the allowance will be fixed, and the visor will take the desired shape.

The basis

Now you can proceed to the main part of the jockey. To do this, all the wedges are folded face to face and neatly connected first with pins, and then with a sewing machine.

IMPORTANT! When stitching wedges, it is better to work with “pairs” of triangles. That is, two elements are first stitched together, then two more.

The resulting deuces are also folded together with the front side inward and stitched together on one side. After, the last pair is sewn to this “four” wedges and the workpiece is rounded in the usual shape of the cap.

In a similar way, the parts from the insulation are connected. As a result, you should get two simple “hats”.

Rack

The next stage is the stand. Attach the prepared strip of fabric to the inside of the visor and secure it with pins. On the other hand attach and also fix the second part of the future rack.

IMPORTANT! Fix the stand from the center of the visor so that the back seam is exactly in the middle of the head.

Connect all three parts on a typewriter with one line. And then sew vertical sections of the rack together. The seam should be exactly in the middle of the back of the head.

TIP! At this stage of the work, you can add an elastic band to the back of the rack so that the jockey better fits and does not roll over the head.

After the elastic is sewn, you can connect the sections of the racks around the perimeter.

Assembly

Now it remains to collect all the parts together. The top of the cap is connected to the insulation. Seams are joined on wedges. After that, the upper part of the jockey joins the visor and the stand. To do this, the parts are folded face to face and stacked on a typewriter. And the resulting seam is processed on the overlock.

The jockey is ready!
