Who invented the zipper boots?

Boots with zippers are very popular today. This is not surprising, because fashion comes out of a strict framework, and convenience comes to the fore. And the lightning on the boots, of course, adds convenience.

And who invented the first zipped boots?

Russian theater artist Vera Aralova

Speaking about boots with zippers, one cannot but mention Aralova Vera Ippolitovna - a fashion designer, artist and not only the author of the idea, but also the creator of boots with zippers, as well as a recognized artist of the RSFSR.

Biography

Fashion designer and artist was born in 1911 in Vinnitsa. Her father served in the first cavalry army. It is amazing that Vera went through the First World War and Revolution.

A talent for drawing was found in childhood and there were no problems with the choice of a future profession. Vera studied at the Moscow Fine College.

During the economic and political instability caused by the disappearance of the USSR from the world map, she emigrated with her son to the United States, where she sold paintings, but there was not always enough money.

Before death, I will return to my homeland. She died in 2001 and was buried by her son in one of the Moscow cemeteries, next to his brother Lloyd.

Activities

Since 1930, the future fashion designer began working in the capital's film studio. Her task was to stage performances and create prototypes for costumes. Her most famous works were used in such productions as: “A Month in the Village”, “Truth is Good, and Happiness is Better”, “The Great Sovereign”.

She also managed to become famous in the shoe business. Since 1956, her shoes participated in foreign shows, and since 1959 Vera is the creator of shoes, called “Russian boots” abroad.

Personal life

The personal life of Vera Aralova was quite interesting. In 1932, the Soviet Union was visited by a group of actors from America with the grandiose dream of opening a theater in the USSR. But, unfortunately, she was not destined to be fulfilled, and almost all the members of the group went back to the United States.

Lloyd Patterson is a graduate of the American College of Theater and one of this group still remains.

After some time, he became acquainted with faith, and then married her. A year later, the family had a son, who in the future would write poetry popular in the USSR and star in the movie “Circus” .

In such a happy marriage, two of his brothers were later born.

First models

In parallel, creating a happy family, Vera Aralova was able to do many more things. For example, she painted, created theatrical scenery and thought over the design of her women's shoes. And, I must admit, she was very successful in family and creativity. The painting, which was authored by Vera, was bought up quickly, and shoes were liked by a large circle of people, but was not mass produced.

"Russian boots" abroad

During the reign of Joseph Stalin, difficulties arose due to the restriction of interaction with Western countries. Only in 1956 was it possible to arrange the first foreign show during the International Clothing Competition in Warsaw.

In the mid-1950s, high-top boots began to appear in the USSR, and Vera Ippolitovna really wanted to get oneself like that. The boots were not comfortable and elegant, so Vera's plump leg could not squeeze into the boot. This is where the idea of boots with zippers came up.

For the first time, boots with a snake sewn into them were presented at the “Russian Fashion” week in Paris in 1959. What they saw so impressed those present that many French manufacturers soon tried to buy models of boots for further manufacture, but this was categorically refused.

Unfortunately, in the Soviet Union, the manufacture of such boots did not begin, even despite the unprecedented sensation produced in Paris . Abroad, production began in less than six months. In the USSR, such boots began to be produced only 15 years later under the pressure of fashion designers and journalists.

Although boots with a sewn-in snake were not popular in the homeland of the creator, today it is a very convenient option for many boots, not only for women, but also for men, which can be worn for almost any reason, whether it be a meeting with friends or a business visit.
