We sew a mannequin tilda

To begin with, let's dive a little into the history of the creation of such a "toy" as a Tilda doll.

Initially, a rag doll was invented by Swedish designer Tony Finnanger at the age of 25. This was not some kind of commercial project, but, after a while, it gained immense popularity, now, except that the lazy one did not try to make this cute toy with his own hands.

There are several distinctive features of the original doll, namely: puffy volumes, no bright features, eyes and mouth may be absent, fabric for the skin of the doll has saturated, but calm shades.

You will need:

  • pattern;
  • stitching threads;
  • old threads, cotton wool, synthetic winterizer for filling a mannequin;
  • stand.

To begin with, we suggest making a slightly simplified and more practical option, below we will try to figure out how to sew a Tilda mannequin. To do this, we need to make patterns that can be drawn on thick paper or cardboard or printed.

The second step in the work will be the selection of “clothes” and fabrics for the upper body. For a dress, it is better to choose fabrics with a bright, romantic print. Fold the selected pieces in half, cut into floors and draw on the back the silhouette of the future mannequin.

Next, sew pieces for the dress and the top at the office of the material, leaving a small distance from the edge for stock. Do not forget to leave a small hole in the bottom of the body, so that in the future we can fill it with fabric and insert a stand on which the mannequin will stand. After that, through all the material, make small cuts next to our seam so that when flipping to the front side, the fabric does not stretch and does not break.

Sew the product on the sewing machine so that the finished doll does not dispose. You can skip this step if you are confident in the strength of your stitches.

Turn the fabric of the doll inside out and smooth it with an iron. Then fill with a thin stick or pencil mannequin. As a filler, you can take old threads, cotton wool, synthetic winterizer.

At the last stage, sew in the hole through which we filled our product and insert the stand. If it was not at hand, then you can leave the mannequin in this form, using it as a needle bed.
