The main techniques of viving
In this method, the pattern is formed using three methods.
- Lifting broaches .
- The entanglement of needles with an additional thread .
- Threading from the top / bottom of the needles . Performing additional fiber transitions from top to bottom according to the scheme, the knitter obtains the required pattern.
Now consider the main stages of work.
What will be needed for viving
The main stage in any work is the preparatory process. The quality of the final result and the successful course of all stages of creating a knitted thing depend on it. Preparation includes the following elements.
- Equipment setup . Before use, make sure that all components and mechanisms are working properly. Lubricate the equipment with machine oil if necessary. After that, be sure to wipe all surfaces with a clean cloth .
Important! If lubricating the carriage, perform a few idle passes on the carriage and wipe the parts again.
- Pattern selection.
- Yarn selection. This stage of preparation is important. For viving you will need two threads: the main and additional fiber.
Creating the basis, you can use both threads for machine and hand knitting that best suit your needs.
- For items intended for hot weather : linen, cotton, viscose, silk with parameters of 400-500 m / 100 g.
- To connect warm clothes of medium density : acrylic, six, mohair, alpaca with parameters of 300-350 m / 100 g.
- For outerwear (jacket, coat): bulk fiber with parameters of 250-200 m / 100 g.
Attention! The selected material should be easy to knit on your knitting machine.
The main types of viving
There are two main directions for creating patterns.
Classic method
The classical method involves the use of two threads of the same density . In this embodiment, you can use the fiber of the same color or use the game in contrast. Then, in addition to weaving, the threads emphasize each other and the beauty of the weave.
Canvas can be knitted in a continuous pattern . When working with punch cards or an electronic program, you can also knit out single motifs .
Fantasy approach
In the fantasy version , fibers of various sizes are used . With this method of knitting, you can get two options:
- openwork;
- canvas with various effects (boucle, faux fur, terry cloth and so on).
These differences will depend on the additional thread used. For openwork weaving, it is required to use a thin additional thread, which will differ from the warp by at least two times. For fancy effects, use fancy yarn. You can pick it up empirically.
