Viscose: fabric properties, resistance to creasing and spooling

There is a lot of controversy over the natural origin of viscose. Most people know that this is artificial fabric and attribute it to synthetic materials. But this is not true!

Rayon is a natural fabric. It is produced from shredded wood by artificial means. But its fibers have a 100% natural composition and corresponding properties. It is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture well), breathable (breathes well), does not accumulate static electricity, is hypoallergenic and environmentally friendly.

Does viscose cough

This is not a familiar term. This means that the spools do not appear on the surface after washing and in the process of using items from it. Yes, viscose is coughing. But here a lot depends on the quality of the material.

Reference. The appearance of spools is not the rule, but the exception. If a problem arose, then the easiest way is to purchase a low-cost device to remove spools from your favorite things.

How to prevent the appearance of spools

  • Follow all requirements indicated on the product label. Wash in the indicated mode in a mild detergent;
  • use detergents designed to soften the fibers of the fabric, which reduces the formation of spools;
  • add air conditioning;
  • remove any clumps immediately;
  • do not wash things in hot water;
  • Do not rub the items during washing and do not twist them. For example, only a gentle extraction through terry cloth;
  • Outerwear should not be washed, but taken to dry cleaning.

If you remove the lumps that appear on time, then you can do without a special device. Clerical tape will help get rid of them. You can also try cutting off rolled fibers with a razor. Take extreme care not to damage the material. Pull it as best as possible and then use a razor.

The most knitted items are coughing, including those made from 100% cotton. Therefore, the presence of cotton in viscose fabric, unfortunately, will not solve the problem. Synthetic fibers in the composition, on the contrary, increase the resistance to the formation of spools.

Does viscose rumble

Yes, it wrinkles, but not as much as cotton! Many things after washing and gentle drying on the shoulders or when laid out horizontally do not require ironing. If you still need to iron things, do not turn on the steaming mode and do not moisten the fabric, as it will become less durable, wear out faster and lose shape.

How to wash viscose and care for it

Since this fabric is particularly vulnerable when wet, it needs a gentle wash in a neutral detergent. Eliminate the use of bleaches. It is best to wash viscose products by hand, especially if it is important to keep their shape. Especially delicate things after washing, wrap in a terry towel, squeeze slightly, dry, spread out on a horizontal plane.

You can resort to machine wash. Choose a gentle mode designed for delicate fabrics, because wet material loses its strength by 40%. Set the minimum spin speed. Temperature condition - +30 ºС.

To increase the operational properties of viscose, synthetic fibers are added to its composition. At the same time, the material becomes more wear-resistant and practically does not crease. If synthetic additives are less in the composition of the fabric than viscose itself, then the material retains all the advantages of natural materials.

Attention! Do not dry laundry in direct sunlight. This leads to fading of the dyed fabric.

Viscose is a serious competitor to cotton, both in terms of its operational properties, appearance, and price. Feel free to purchase products from this material, because they are made from natural raw materials and are not able to harm health!
