History of Tatar costumes of the bride and groom
According to old traditions, it was previously customary for parents to give a cloth for sewing a wedding dress to a future bride. In addition, the girl could choose a piece of fabric that she liked from the groom’s wedding gifts, which were usually presented a week before the celebration.
The Koran was instructed to have only the most necessary things and in every possible way to avoid excesses. Therefore, clothing that could later be worn in everyday life ( loose-fitting dresses, tunics, and national costumes consisting of a shirt, a bib, and trousers ) was often used as festive clothing.
A bit later, camisole (a short fitted vest) and beshmet (tight-fitting quilted half-caftan with a stand-up collar) came into fashion. The color palette of holiday dresses was not very diverse. Tatar wedding dresses were sewn from canvases of green, blue or red.

Features of traditional Tatar wedding clothes

- a long or short jacket-camisole (in most cases a bright emerald, cornflower blue or burgundy color, sometimes it is chosen to match the shade of the dress);
- the original headpiece is a fez (or kalfak) and a light veil (analogous to a veil), which is attached directly to the fez;
- colored ballet flats (dudes) made of genuine leather or pointed openwork lace-up boots (ichigi).
The groom's suit consists of the following details:
- white shirt;
- strict trousers;
- richly embroidered velvet camisole (often chosen to match the bride’s wedding dress);
- black or white national hat, decorated with intricate ornaments of gold threads.

Styles
Modern outfits for the wedding ceremony are slightly different from traditional costumes . In most cases, brides wear white dresses, sometimes complemented by contrasting details of the main national colors. Light shades of wedding dresses are quite popular: light pink, pale blue and mint.
Over the years, moral bans have become more loyal to the styles of such dresses - modern brides often choose dresses with a small neckline or with open hands. A-line wedding dresses with a full skirt are very popular among Tatar fashionistas.

Modern Tatar Wedding Costumes
In modern wedding dresses, modernized design ideas that have European roots are often used. Only the traditional embroidery remains unchanged . Floral motifs and colorful ornaments of gold threads decorate the sleeves, the hem of the skirt, hijab or veil.
Such a hat, like fez, has been worn less and less by brides in recent years. Instead of fez, they usually use hijab or a lush veil. As shoes, low-heeled shoes are often chosen.
Tatars sacredly honor the memory of their ancestors, and carefully respect the centuries-old traditions of their people. The national costume for the wedding ceremony is an important component of the material and spiritual culture of the Tatar people.
