Cap pattern
Before you begin to create a pattern for a female cap, you need to prepare the material from which you will sew later .
Material
The main fabric will need 0.35 m with a width of 1.4 m. Suitable cotton of appropriate density. But you can choose any other suitable matter.
Recommended fabric:
- tweed;
- dense coat fabrics;
- artificial leather;
- leather;
- suede.
NOTE! If the material you select is too thin or loose, you will need to duplicate it with adhesive material.
Prepare the lining fabric . It will take 0.25 m with a width of 0.9–1.40 m. It can be any suitable material, but consider its color. For the visor, it is necessary to prepare a dense, but thin plastic, another blank preparation is possible in the visor.
What measurements are needed
The size of your cap is the size of your head .
In order to take measurements, you need to take a regular centimeter tape and wrap it around your head. This way you measure the circle.
Remove the measure at a level slightly higher than the eyebrows, go a little higher than the line of the auricles, and on the back of the head through the most protruding point . Having determined the maximum head circumference, you can determine the size of the future product.
HELP . A centimeter tape should fit your head rather tightly, but it should not squeeze, cause discomfort.
How to build a pattern
You need to carve the following elements.
- Bottom in the amount of 1 pc.
- Front and rear walls 1 pc.
- Pellet in the amount of 4 pcs. There will be two main parts and two lining.
- Lower and upper visor for 1 child.
Now it’s worth moving on to the fabric that you prepared for the lining .
- Bottom - 1 pc.
- Front and rear walls 1 pc.
Cut out all these parts on the appropriate fabrics and do not forget about the visor insert. It also needs to be carved on the appropriate material.
Sewing a cap
When all the details are cut and ironed, you can safely proceed to the sewing process. You should not have any difficulties if you do everything in stages, according to the above algorithm.
The basis
- The front and rear part must be folded together with the front sides. Side sections must be stitched. Now the seams must be ironed and squandered. Now proceed to the bottom and the wall. They also need to be folded facing inward, combine the slices, as well as the middle lines, for convenience, pierce with pins.
- Connect the parts by sewing on a typewriter. Make a slight landing from the bottom, distributing it along the entire cut line. In order to exclude the possibility of tightening the seam, notch the allowances left for a neat seam through a specific indent. Stitch by installment and iron.
Visor
- Now we turn to the processing of visors. They should be made without seam allowances on the outside. The insert is made without allowances on all sides. Put a liner on the back of the bottom part, connect with machine stitch. Now overlay the upper part, the front side is facing up. Join the machine line departing from the edge quite a bit. Try to make the seams even and neat. From the matter, cut out the strip in an oblique arrangement. Its length is 0.36 m and its width is 2.5 cm. With it, treat the outer cut with a edging seam.
- Join the side sections of the band along with the lining, make seams. Now take the scoop and lining, fold each other with the upper sides and sew the lower sections. Just skip the area where the visor will be. Connect the visor to the peg. Place it between the main part and the lining. Carefully connect all the parts together, smoothing the fabric.
Assembly
- Lining the details of the cap. It must be processed. To do this, connect the slices on the sides, use the stitch seam. Connect the lining of the walls to the lining of the bottom.
- Now you need to fold the resulting product with the lining facing side to each other and connect using the machine line. Do not forget to leave a small hole, so that in the end it was convenient to turn the product. Now turn out your hat and straighten. Sew the hole carefully with a hidden seam, iron if necessary.
Your cap is ready.
