Men's cap pattern

If you want to please a man dear to you, but do not have much experience in sewing, opt for such an element of clothing as a hat. An ordinary hat will not take you much time and energy, but it is perfect as a gift for the upcoming winter holidays and will warm a loved one in the literal and figurative sense.

Attention! There are quite a few models of this element of the wardrobe, most of which are quite realistic to make on their own.

We offer you one of the easiest options, which can be modified at will, since such a cap can be used as a starting element for other models.

How to make a pattern of a man's hat

It is a simple task to make a pattern for the standard model of a male four-blade hat, and any novice seamstress can cope with it. For this you will need:

  • Tape measure.
  • A4 sheet of paper.
  • Writing accessories and ruler.

This hat can be sewn with or without a lapel. In case you want to add such a detail, you should make a pattern for it too.

Men's fleece hat

Fleece is a synthetic material specially invented for sewing warm products. It is very light, elastic, easy to care for and hypoallergenic. And his most amazing property is that even in a wet state he continues to warm. It is also important that this material does not pour in the place of the cut, which means that it does not need to be further processed. So fleece is a great option for sewing hats.

Four wedges and lapel hat

The most popular and easiest to carry out is the cap model, which consists of four identical wedges and a lapel detail. If the craftswoman has a sewing machine at her disposal, the creation of such a headdress will be quite quick, and most of the time will be spent on work on calculations and patterns.

Building patterns

In order to make a suitable pattern, you need to use a centimeter tape and make some measurements. Namely, measure:

  • Head circumference (OG1).
  • The distance from the forehead to the back of the head (through the crown - OG2).

Visual measurement scheme and pattern of header elements

Divide the head circumference by 4, we get the base of one wedge. The second measurement (the distance from the forehead to the crown) is divided by 2, we get the height of the wedge. This pattern element has the form of a triangle with rounded side faces.

Further on a sheet of paper we draw a similar element using a ruler, using measurements made earlier. Do not forget to add 1-1.5 cm to the seams on the rounded edges (the base will also increase by 2-3 cm, respectively).

If you want to add another element (lapel) to such a cap, draw a rectangle with the long side equal to the head circumference plus margin for the seam.

Cutting and sewing

The easiest way to open such a model of a headdress will be an option in which the fabric folds 4 times, then a wedge pattern is pinned on top with pins over the entire thickness and 4 parts are cut along the contour at once. The pins will not allow the fabric to move, and the elements will come out the same and neat.

Then you should cut the lapel from the fabric, attaching this element of the pattern with pins to a single-layer fabric (of course, if you use it).

Important! Please note that the fleece, like any other fabric, has a front and back side. To make the product uniform and beautiful, carefully stitch the parts together and fasten them together with pins.

Turn the product to the wrong side, make seams using a sewing machine or manually using the back needle seam. This type of seam pretty accurately mimics the machine, and the fluffy fleece structure will make the stitches almost invisible.

After sewing, turn the product to the front side. Such a cap does not require additional processing.

Advice! If you want to get a warmer product for a very cold season, or if you want the synthetic material not to come in contact with the body, make the “inner” cap from the same four wedges from the same fleece or natural material (for example, cotton).

In this case, no seams will be visible inside the headdress. For this option, it is better to make the external elements a little larger - within a centimeter for each element.
