Knitting Turtlenecks

Many people believe that turtlenecks are exclusively factory products from knitwear or elastic fabric, and by no means associate this piece of clothing with knitwear. And this is a very big omission for those who are in search of ideas for needlework.

Another plus in the treasury of the benefits of a turtleneck will be the ability to hide some age-related changes in the skin of the neck, which will also be useful for overweight ladies. And the opportunity to do such a necessary thing with your own hands puts a turtleneck at the very top of popularity among models and ideas for needlework.

Reference! The most accurate turtlenecks are obtained by knitting such products with knitting needles. And the finer the thread and the tool, the more tender and refined the thing will turn out.

DIY knitting turtlenecks

Among modern man-made models of turtlenecks for women, the following can be distinguished:

  • thin knit turtlenecks with delicate elements or a uniform canvas;
  • tighter turtlenecks with decorative elements such as braids and arana;
  • Turtleneck Turtlenecks and Turtleneck Dresses
  • turtlenecks made of “light” yarn for the warm season, usually fit with a short sleeve or without it at all.

Of course, a female turtleneck, like any other product made of yarn, can be knitted either with knitting needles or with a hook. A hook is preferred in knitting lightweight summer patterns, while knitting needles are more likely to create warmer things.

We knit a turtleneck sweater golf from thin yarn with knitting needles

Many women should like the following turtleneck model in the form of a golf sweater made of the finest soft merino yarn. In light colors, such a thing will look very gentle and elegant, in dark colors it will emphasize the harmony of the figure.

It is also worth noting that this model is quite versatile, because it can be worn as an independent product, or used with a cardigan or vest. Like any turtleneck, this sweater does not require the use of neck scarves and scarves, because the neckline is high and protects the neck from the effects of low temperature in the cold season. But of course, if you wish, you can use any bright accessory to make some changes to this gentle image.

Materials and Tools

To knit a product in size 46–48 you will need:

  • 12 skeins of yarn from 100% merino wool, provided that one skein weighs 25 g with a thread length of 140 m;
  • Straight knitting needles 2 and 2.5.

Advice! In case you want to get a more airy and openwork product, use knitting needles thicker. In this case, the yarn consumption will slightly decrease, and the product itself will not fit the figure so much as in the photo, since the density of knitting will also change.

Knitting patterns

In working on the presented sweater model, you need to use two different patterns:

  • 2 * 2 elastic band (2 front loops, 2 wrong loops) with knitting density No. 2 10 cm * 10 cm = 42p. * 54r .;
  • pattern "rhombuses" with a density of knitting on needles No. 2.5 10 cm * 10 cm = 37p. * 43r.

Diagram 1 provides instructions for reproducing the “rhombus” pattern, which is the main one in this model. The designation "rapport" means a constantly repeating element of the pattern.

Figure 2 shows the pattern with which you can verify the product at different stages of knitting. Beginning craftswomen usually translate such a pattern onto paper in full size and apply product elements to the corresponding part. Also, a similar pattern can be built using measurements of your body and taking into account the density of knitting patterns to calculate the required number of loops for a set.

Knit turtlenecks in stages

Next, we will dwell in more detail on the description of knitting each of the details of a turtleneck.

Back:

  • We recruit 140p. on knitting needles number 2, we knit them with an elastic band in the format 2 * 2 86r. (16 cm).
  • Then, using the pattern "Rhombuses" in the work, we knit 112r. (26 cm).
  • After that, for the armholes we close symmetrically on both sides sequentially 1 * 6p., 1 * 5p., 1 * 4p., 1 * 3p., 1 * 2p., 1 * 1p.
  • Then after knitting from the armhole 81r. (17.5 cm) close in the middle of 12p. for the neck.
  • Two resulting parts fit separately from each other. On the left shoulder (from the neck on the front side) in the front row we will sequentially close 1 * 5p., 1 * 4p., 1 * 3p. 1 * 2p., 1 * 1p. At the same time, after closing 3p. throat, we will close the shoulder three times: 1 * 9p., 1 * 9p., 1 * 10p.
  • The back on the right side of the neck will be knitted in a similar way.

Before:

We knit similarly to the back, but knit from the elastic 120r. (28 cm) and 2 cm on the chest tuck, which must be attached when stitching in the chest area. We begin the formation of the throat from the armhole after 66r. (14 cm). Close the shoulder after 86r. from the armhole.

Sleeves:

  • On knitting needles number 2 we dial 80p., We knit with an elastic band in the format 2 * 2 86r. (16 cm).
  • Change the knitting needles to number 2.5, knit the "Rhombus" patterns, adding 4p on each side. 1p. (96 p.). Added loops should be included in the pattern.
  • Then, without increases, we knit 11 rubles, we make an armhole. To do this, symmetrically close on both sides 1 * 6p., 1 * 5p., 1 * 4p., 1 * 3p., 1 * 2p., 17 * 1p., 24 * 2p. After that, close the remaining 6p. in the middle.

Assembly:

  • Connect the parts of the product on the sides, sew in the sleeves.
