Yarn

Consider some types of yarn that you can use.
- Alpaca - made from the wool of llamas . It has good thermoregulating properties, very dense, does not fall off over time. Without additives, this wool is very expensive. To reduce the cost, it is combined with synthetic threads.
- Angora - made from the wool of downy rabbits . Fluff is mixed with acrylic or merino. Angora is soft to the touch, airy and warm. Among the negative qualities, one can single out that the fluff is quickly wiped; it is not advisable to wash things from this yarn.
- Cashmere - the so-called wool of a mountain goat . It is gentle to the touch, products from it have an attractive, smooth appearance. Of the shortcomings, it should be noted that spools appear on things over time.
- Linen yarn is rather coarse, does not lend itself to dyeing. It is warm, the thread does not sit and does not fade. Linen yarn is only natural gray, beige tones .
- Natural wool consists of the wool of various species of animals . Products turn out to be very warm, but if improperly washed, they can shrink or stretch. Depending on the composition, the coat may be soft or prickly.
- Acrylic is a synthetic yarn that is warm and easy to care for. Items made of acrylic do not lose their shape and do not fade.
Knitting needles
Depending on which yarn we have chosen, we select knitting needles. Ideally, the size of the knitting needles should be greater than the thickness of the yarn: fold the selected thread in half and attach the knitting needle . This is the size of the knitting needles needed for knitting.
Sometimes manufacturers of yarn on the packaging prescribe the size of the knitting needles, which is most suitable for the thread. Pay attention to this.

Knitting methods

- If we knit a hat without a seam, there are two options. Knitting in a circle on circular knitting needles or 5 knitting needles, like a sock.
The hat fits in different patterns .
- Gum in different versions.
- 1 front loop, 1 wrong loop.
- 2 front loops, 2 wrong loops.
- 3 front loops, 3 purl loops.
- The pattern "spikelets" of elongated loops (for experienced knitters).
How to tie a pumpkin hat
The model should fit your head tightly. Therefore, we will knit a hat for women with an elastic band 2 * 2 (2 facial, 2 wrong loops).
Description of knitting warp
Take merino yarn. It looks beautiful in the finished accessory, warm and practical to wear. Knitting needles size 3.5 or 3.75. We will knit a hat on five knitting needles.
We collect 128 loops and distribute them into four knitting needles of 32 loops. After the first row is knitted, make a mark, you can tie the thread. This is necessary so as not to lose the beginning of knitting.
Next, we knit an elastic band 2 loops front, 2 loops purl to the end of the row. Depending on whether you want a hat with or without a twist, we knit a 22 or 27 cm pipe with an elastic band.
How to tie the crown
After completing the knitting of the main part of the pumpkin, we proceed to knitting the crown, gradually reducing the loops. The knitting pattern looks like this.
- 1st row: 2 facial, 2 wrong loops together, 2 facial, 2 wrong loops; repeat to the end of the row.
- The 2nd row and all even rows until the 9th are knitted according to the pattern.
- 3rd row: 2 facial loops, 1 purl, 2 facial 2 purl together, repeat the pattern to the end of the row.
- 5th row: 2 facial together, 1 wrong side, 2 facial, 1 wrong side - to the end of the row.
- 7th row: 1 front, 1 wrong, 2 facial together, 1 wrong - we knit the whole circle.
- 9th row: we knit all the loops face, while reducing the purl loops as follows. We take the front loop for the front thread, grab the wrong loop and knit two loops together with the front.
- 10th row: we knit 2 stitches together.
- In the next rows, we knit the front loops 2 together, until 16 loops remain on the knitting needles. If you want the crown to be bigger, leave 28–32 loops.
Unwind about 15–20 centimeters from a skein of yarn and cut the thread. Using a gypsy needle or hook, pull the thread through all the loops and pull it inside out. You can stretch the thread through the loop two times, the crown will hold on tight.
Fasten the thread in the already knitted rows.
The model is ready. We measure and either leave it as is, or turn on the imagination, adding a decorative seam, or pompom, or ties.
Work Tips
Before knitting hats or any other thing, be sure to knit a 10 X 10 cm sample. Unpair it and see how the yarn in the product will behave. To determine the density of knitting, calculate the number of loops in 1 cm . Be sure to focus on your density of binding.
ATTENTION! The number of loops in the header is calculated using the following formula. Multiply the head circumference by the number of loops in 1 cm of the sample and subtract 15 (20)% of the resulting number.
15 or 20% is the calculation that the thing connected by an elastic band is stretched.
Before you start wearing a knitted product, it must be washed and dried unfolded. If dried on a rope, the hat may stretch or lose shape.
If you decide to attach a large fur pompom, make this part on a rivet. Then it will be possible to remove the fur before washing, or thus change the model.
