How to store socks?

The order in the house is the order in the head. This worldly wisdom should be the motto for everyone. Many housewives are wondering how to organize storage of things in the closet and on the shelves so that they do not crumple, do not get lost and do not take up much space. This also applies to socks, which, although they do not take up much space, but disappear at the most inopportune moment. Smart storage allows you to find the right pair in just a second.

Where can and where can not be stored socks?

The question of where to keep hosiery is purely individual and depends on the preferences and capabilities of a particular person. You can identify only some of the rules that you must follow to properly organize your wardrobe:

  • socks should be placed separately from other small items of clothing. First of all, it is the key to your convenience and time saving. Finding a pair of socks in a box among an infinite number of gloves, hats, belts or underwear is not an easy task. Moreover, in the morning it causes even more irritation;
  • socks do not “live” on the same shelf with large things like sweaters, T-shirts or jeans . They will be constantly lost under voluminous things, tangled up in sleeves and legs;
  • it is more convenient to store socks in a limited space: in a box, on a small shelf, in special compartments. If socks are thoughtlessly thrown onto a large shelf in a wardrobe, this will lead to chaos and disorder, which we want to avoid;
  • no need to put anything on chairs, a sofa or under a bed. It is better to send used clothes for washing, and laundered items to a secluded place. Suddenly, guests suddenly come, and you have scattered socks everywhere. First of all, it is unethical, since they belong to the category of underwear.

Get rid of single socks from time to time . Of course, the hope of the appearance of the second always dies last, but practice shows that this happens quite rarely. In addition, the absence of incomplete pairs will greatly facilitate storage.

Ways to store socks

Modern furniture, such as dressers, are often equipped with built-in storage compartments. If your boxes do not have such compartments, do not despair. There are many more options for organizing these wardrobe items.

Homemade Boxes

One of the easiest and most affordable options. Storage capacity can be made from a regular shoe box. Their advantage is that they are very dense and stable, do not fall apart when filling. You can use both the finished box and paste it with beautiful paper or decorate with decorative elements to your taste.

After that, it remains only to carefully fold the socks into the box. Such packaging can be stored both in a closed cabinet or on an open shelf (especially if the box is designed for the interior of the room and is equipped with a lid).

Take note of a couple more tips for using boxes:

  • it is convenient to store seasonal products in closed boxes: knitted leggings and insulated tights. Just put them on the upper shelves of the cabinet and take them out next winter;
  • You can make two containers from one box yourself: use the box for large items, such as tights or socks, and equip the lid as a pallet for nylon products.

The box can also be glued on its own from thick cardboard. Its size varies depending on the number of things and the freedom of storage space.

Wicker baskets

A nice option for girls and women. It is great for open shelves or floors, which then fits into almost any interior. Baskets are made with and without lids, and inside they can be covered with a soft cloth or divided into small compartments.

In addition to wicker, there are also plastic baskets. They are not so elegant, but no less functional. They are even better in a high-tech room.

Special organizers

One of the most convenient gizmos for storage. They are frame boxes made of fabric that can be put in boxes and thereby divide the space into compartments. They are also made from cardboard, less often - from plastic.

It is most practical to place such organizers in drawers, most importantly, when buying, decide that the size of the container fits the intended location. The main advantage of this option is the formula: one cell - one pair of socks. With such an organization, a minimal amount of time will be spent searching for your favorite couple.

It is convenient to store socks in the organizer in the following ways (they are also suitable for other storage options):

  • twist each pair with a roller;
  • make “lumps” - insert one toe into the other and the upper one partially turned inside out.

Zip packages

They are understood as plastic bags with a tight lock. They are quite dense and convenient in closing to protect from dust, but there is a big minus - a waste of time packing socks after washing and, if necessary, getting the right thing. Therefore, they are much more practical to use during long-term storage, for example, winter socks and tights .

If you still decide to use this method, then pick up bags of different sizes for different types of hosiery.

Hanging pockets

An option for those who want to rationally use the space, or if the cabinet is very small . They represent several rows of pockets on dense fabric. The pockets themselves can be either transparent or not, can be located on one or two sides.

There are two types of pockets:

  • on a loop or hole that attaches to a wall or hook;
  • hanger mounted on a hanger. They can be hung on a rail for dresses or shirts.
