How to sew a peignoir

Peignoir - an item needed by most women. In addition to the function - to keep warm, to serve as clothing for relaxation, it has a decorative function. Properly selected peignoir is a real weapon of seduction!

What is a peignoir?

Peignoir (literal translation - “comb your hair”) is light clothing for evening or morning pastime.

Fabric selection

The main requirement for tissues for peignoirs is their hygroscopicity, breathing properties, sensations that these tissues cause in a woman.

Fabric calculation

With a fabric width of 145-150 centimeters, we perform the following calculations: product length + sleeve length.

Advice! Cutting is done on a double folded fabric.

With a material width of 80-90 centimeters - two product lengths + two sleeve lengths.

If you are going to sew a peignoir with a smell, then add another length of the product.

Measurements:

We need the following measurements:

Chest girth - on the protruding points of the chest.
Hips - Overhanging Hips
Sleeve length - from the base of the shoulder to the desired sleeve length.
The length of the product is from the seventh cervical vertebra along the back to the required length.

Peignoir with a smell

A light peignoir can be sewn without buttons - they will be replaced by a belt.

This is a basic pattern that is easily modeled.

This model provides several options for collars and pockets.

Using additional lace as decoration, or replacing sleeve details with it, we get completely different models.

Having made wide sleeves, we get a kimono. It remains to choose the appropriate fabric with oriental motifs.

We carry overhead pockets or place them in the side seams.

Cut Details:

one-piece back with a fold;
2 shelves;
2 sleeves;
burlap pocket - 4 parts.

Belt (finished product length 190 cm, width - 3 cm).

Work sequence:

Place the patterns on the prepared fabric, grind, cut out. Do not forget about allowances.
Sew tucks on shelves, iron toward the front.
Suture the shoulder seams of the shelves, backs with a seam, sew the sleeves into the open armhole.
On marks to grind burlap pockets to shelves, back. Iron the seams.
Fold the front sides of the sleeves, shelves and back, sew with a single seam to the pocket, then cut the burlap sockets of the pockets, side seams to the bottom. Iron the seams towards the ledge.
Treat the sides of the shelves, the neckline with the trim strip. To do this, facing the front side inside out of the shelf by cutting, grind, unscrew the front side of the shelf and stitch 0.2 cm to the edge.
Stitch the outer section of the inlay on the shelf to the edge by 0.2 cm. Also process the bottom of the sleeves.
If there is no finishing tape, then you have to cut out the underboard and the neckline, and give a hem at the bottom of the sleeve.
Fold the bottom of the dressing gown and stitch it with a 3 cm stitch.
Fold the belt along the midline. Stitch along the longitudinal sections and short sides, leaving a hole for twisting. Unscrew the belt, sew the hole manually, then stitch the belt to the edge by 0.2 cm.
For those who love collars, we recommend two of their types - a schalke or a turndown elongated.

Advice! Perform this model from a natural fabric of white or cream shades. Extend the pattern to the floor, and then generously decorate it with lace - you will get a Victorian peignoir now fashionable.

Peignoir baby dollars

We sew this type of peignoir without a pattern.

Measurements:

Skirt length - The length of the skirt is determined from the tape under the chest to the desired length of the product.
Hips - at the protruding points of the hips.
Chest girth - on the protruding points of the chest.
Girth under the chest - along the torso in the area of the ribs.
Chest height - from shoulder to tape under the chest, through the top of the chest.

It will be required:

Fabric - 1.2 - 1.5 m. With a width of 150 cm.
Finishing tape, finished oblique edging - 4-5 m. (Optional).
Lace.
Tailor's chalk.
Scissors.
Threads in a suitable tone.
Sewing machine.

Cut Details:

The skirt cloth - 1 d. With a fold.
Bodice detail - 4 parts.

Work sequence:

We cut out the skirt. The width is arbitrary, but not less than the circumference of the hips + 15 cm.
We trim the edge of the skirt.
The bodice will be cut triangles, double with stitched tucks.
Sew the triangles to the strip of lace.
We make straps - spaghetti.
Sew our bodice to the strip of lace.
We make the ties.
Decorate as desired.
Sew a wide strip of lace to the assembled skirt.

Important! The skirt begins immediately below the chest - not from the waist. Triangles act as bra cups.
