How to make a knot on a thread?

With manual sewing, sometimes it becomes necessary to connect parts with a blind seam, sweep them, or perform decorative trim. In this case, it is difficult to fix the thread without a knot. Read on for several ways to tie a knot.

How to quickly tie a knot on a thread with a needle?

To ensure that the seam does not open, it is important to tie the knot correctly. This is especially important if the seam is permanent or there is a multiple fitting of the product.

Manually

Such a node has another name - rolled up. To tie it by hand, you need to wind a thread loop on your index finger. Holding it with your thumb to the index, twist the loop around its axis (roll up), remove from the finger. Taking with one hand the tip of the thread, which is closer to the needle, and the other to grab the thread from the loop, you need to pull them in different directions. With this action, the loop will be pulled into a knot. If the thread did not tie, then the twisting was insufficient, it is recommended to repeat the process, tightening a new knot on top of the first.

Using the needle threader

First, the needle threader must be threaded through the eye of the needle. When the wire takes its original shape again, insert the thread into it. Stretch its end to the other side so that it hangs. Next, the needle threader is removed. Wrap the long tip of the thread three times around the needle. The obtained loops need to be moved to the eye of the needle, lowered to the thread, shifted to the end. Tighten the loops to form a knot.

How to tie a knot on a thread after sewing?

The knot at the end of sewing is necessary so that in the future the seam does not open and last longer.

Simple fixing knot

This is perhaps the most common way to fix a seam. It is enough to make a loop at the end of the thread, thread the second tip into it, tighten. Done!

Stitches back

A double back stitch will make the seam smoother and stronger than the presence of a knot. To do this, stick the needle into the fabric and pull out the thread, but not completely. Sew the stitch back and draw the needle where it came out the first time. The action must be repeated, and you can sew further. In the same way, reinforcement stitches are made at the end of the seam.

Advice

  • If you can’t cope with tying knots, then try to scorch the failed knot, it will melt and be stronger.
  • Remember how to tie the laces with a double knot. To do this, sew the first stitch without pulling the entire thread. Pass the needle through this protruding ponytail.

The listed options for nodules are the most commonly used in practice. Use them in your work, and the completed seams will last a long time.
