With the help of our tips, you can easily perform window gluing.

Necessary materials

To perform the work, you will need the most common tools and materials: lace fabric, a wide brush, scissors, tape measure or ruler, starch for glue.

Preparation of starch glue

Do not use synthetic glue for decoration. It may turn yellow from the sun, emit unpleasant odors when heated, will cause trouble if you want to peel off the tulle or replace it with a material with a different pattern.

The most correct thing is to prepare an environmentally friendly and reliable adhesive solution on your own.

Starch glue preparation algorithm:

Corn starch

  • Boil water. For work you will need: boiling water - 350 ml, cold water - 2 tbsp.
  • Combine corn starch (2 tbsp) with cold water and carefully dilute so that there are no lumps left.
  • Add boiling water, stir gently, until we achieve a homogeneous consistency. Let the stirred mixture cool. After complete cooling, the adhesive is ready for use.

Potato starch

  • We heat 3 l of water, but do not boil!
  • Potato starch (1 tbsp) is poured into warm water.
  • Thoroughly stir the starch in water so that it is completely dissolved.

Important! Use high whiteness starch for the preparation of glue; glue from such starch will not turn yellow.

Selection of material suitable for gluing

Decoration is attractive due to its economy. For work, you do not need to buy a new lace fabric. Every housewife will find suitable material for work from old curtains. From the existing tulle, we select the part that is suitable for the size of the glass: the fabric should be slightly larger than the glass.

Try to choose a part on which there are no spots and torn threads. In this case, the pattern will become a real decoration for the windows.

Work Instructions

  • Getting started, carefully read the instructions for the work and follow the procedure.
  • We measure the length and width of each glass on the window.
  • Cut the fabric into suitable sized pieces.

Important! When cutting the tulle, add 0.5 cm on each side to the available glass sizes, in this case you will not have to stretch the material oiled with adhesive solution unnecessarily.

  • We check the correctness of the dimensions, applying each cut flap of tulle to the glass.

Advice! Carry out gluing work with rubber gloves. Then you can completely immerse the fabric in glue, gently spread it on the glass, and contact with hot water, glue will not harm the skin of the palms of the hands.

Glue the tulle, using one of the methods:

1 way

  • Using a wide brush, apply glue to the glass.
  • We apply the product to the glass and carefully spread the material over the entire area of the glass.
  • Once again, apply a layer of glue over the lace fabric.
  • Leave to dry completely.

Important! Do not apply glue directly to the entire window, do the work on each glass separately, so that the first layer of glue does not have time to dry.

2 way

  • Pour glue into a wide container (basin, cup).
  • Gently and gradually immerse the tulle in glue. We make sure that all the material is in an adhesive solution.
  • Leave for a while to saturate the tulle with glue.
  • After pulling out the material, slightly squeeze it to get rid of excess glue.
  • Glue the material and let it dry.
  • Work is done!

Advice! If there is no starch at hand, tulle can be glued using ordinary household soap. The material needs to be moistened, and then densely soaped. Such gluing is reliable, and removing tulle with water is even easier in this case.

How to peel a tulle from a window

The undoubted advantage of such a decor for windows is the ability to peel off the tulle if necessary. You can do this without any problems. You need hot water and a sponge or cloth that absorbs water well. A sponge or napkin is moistened in hot water, and then the glued tulle is wiped, trying to soak the lace fabric.

Leaving the window for a few minutes, allow the water to dissolve the adhesive solution. Then the tulle is carefully removed, if necessary, additionally wiping the problem areas with a sponge or rag. Thus, it will be possible to remove the material without leaving a mark on the glass.
