How to glue hot glue rhinestones?

Iridescent rhinestones and modest clothes will make luxurious! You can decorate your favorite thing with a radiant bulk yourself. The most convenient are thermostrases. How to brilliantly cope with the task of sticking them, read on.

The principle of "work" hot-meshed rhinestones

From all other varieties of rhinestones, the hot glue version is distinguished by the presence of an adhesive on the decoration itself. High temperature turns the adhesive into a viscous mass, penetrating into the fabric, freezes, attaching decor to the fabric.

Not every fabric is suitable - its density should be average so that glue can seep between the fibers. Perfect cotton, linen, wool. With thin and superdense tissues, the operation is ineffective: the organza is unable to absorb glue, and polyamide does not pass it. They have bad relationships with high temperatures.

What do you need?

Minimum effort, time and materials and tools:

  • a set of rhinestones;
  • iron;
  • item of suitable fabric;
  • several sheets of blank paper.

Advice! It is better to glue decorations on the finished item of clothing - it is inconvenient to engage in cutting and sewing already decorated fabric. It is recommended to wash the item first, and immediately before work, free it from the dust particles with a clothes roller.

Glue rhinestones step by step

Having selected and prepared the matter and strasses, we select the pattern and begin to lay it out.

If it was decided to take a chance to decorate a delicate-looking fabric, first we put a sheet of paper between the fabric and the layers of clothing. Neglecting this precaution, you can glue together the backside and in front of your favorite shirt or skirt - the adhesive can soak both layers. In the same way, if there is one layer, there is a risk of sticking the thing to the ironing board.

Now is the time to wield an iron:

  • set the "Cotton" mode;
  • we cover the strass composition with a sheet of paper or a cloth - wet will add viscosity to the glue;
  • ironing slowly.

No need to be afraid to lightly press the iron: pressing it for thirty seconds to the surface, you can achieve better adhesion of the glue to the fabric. Larger jewelry may require longer warming up . It is not necessary to press the iron with all its power - hot-melt adhesive can go beyond its borders, and such a frame for rhinestones is not provided.

After completing the entire operation, leave the thing to cool for at least half an hour. The temptation to check whether it sticks well should be stopped!

Needlewoman tips

In the old days they ordered to learn to embroider on a matting, and then on a branded canvas. A similar recommendation is addressed to novice decorators with rhinestones: after practicing on not the best things in your wardrobe, you can understand the principle of working with jewelry, find out which company supplies the best material.

Be sure to consider the presence on the clothing of other accessories : zippers and buttons can interfere with the uniform processing of the iron surface with rhinestones.

Advice! Hard-to-reach spots with small surfaces can be decorated with a soldering iron, individually gluing each part. Do not know or are afraid to work with a soldering iron? You can use a candle and tweezers: after heating each strazik on a fire, quickly and accurately glue it. The method is good for fabrics that do not like high temperatures.

Having mastered the pasting with thermostrases of clothing, you can try to decorate shoes - for example, to mask traces of abrasions on your favorite, but slightly worn, boots. For this:

  • a gel pen is applied;
  • Before sticking the decor, the trace of the handle is gently wiped with a cotton swab with alcohol or acetone. Acetone spilled over the surface of the skin is fraught with indelible stains !
  • Using a soldering iron or a candle, each element of the picture is glued.

Will the skin suffer from such manipulations? No - a sufficiently coarse material can survive a heating of about 180 degrees. Doubts are caused only by the varnished surface.
