How to collect a curtain

Curtains are a bright accent that emphasizes the style, gives the room a complete look and makes the room cozy. But fabric decorations for window openings - this is only part of the composition, the main, eye-catching attribute is the cornice. Repairmen can carefully and quickly assemble the curtains, but beginners can also learn this.

We collect curtains

In order for window textiles to “fall” into place, it is necessary to assemble correctly. To do this, you need to accurately measure the correct values (the length of the cornice, the distance from the wall), buy the desired cornice, related tools, materials and proceed with its installation.

What to consider when collecting

Even before buying a cornice, you need to consider the following points:

  1. The surface of the ceiling - if it is uneven, then wall products should be used. The ceiling curtain adheres tightly to the ceiling, so if it is imperfect, gaps at the junction will be noticeable.
  2. The function of textiles is if home owners only plan to close the window opening, and not the entire wall, then you need to buy a curtain rod 60 cm longer than the window.
  3. Density of fabric for curtains - for thin fabrics it does not matter the distance of the curtain from the wall, but dense textiles require compliance with this parameter. For the folds of jacquard, linen, moire, at least 20 cm of indentation from the wall is necessary.

Observing the distance between the curtains and the wall will exclude the tight fit of textiles to the heating radiator, which can distort the curtains.

Assembling the ceiling curtain

Before you begin installation, you need to arm yourself with such tools: a drill with a drill of 4-5 mm, a measuring tape, a building level and a perforator. For drawings, you also need a simple pencil or thin chalk, and for fixing the product - fasteners (dowels, screws).

Instruction manual

First you need to measure the dimensions, then drill a hole in the ledge with a drill - evenly and symmetrically. The first is drilled in the center, the rest - at a distance of 40–45 cm in the direction from the center. If the cornice consists of several strips (for curtains and tulle), then they are attached separately. The curtain is attached to the concrete floor as follows:

  1. The product is applied to the ceiling, the points of attachment are marked with a pencil.
  2. Holes 4-5 cm long are drilled in concrete.
  3. Dowels are inserted into the resulting openings, then the product is applied and screwed with screws.

For wooden floors, the scheme is simplified - the cornice is immediately attached with self-tapping screws. The final stage of work - after putting on the hooks, you need to fix the ends with caps.

Important! When attaching the curtains to the hinged structure, the fastening scheme depends on the location of the embedded elements of the base.

What to look for

In order for the curtain to smoothly and accurately take its place, it is necessary to take into account the nuances:

  1. The distance from the bracket to the wall should be the same on both sides.
  2. When the length of the cornice is more than 2 meters, it is necessary to install a third bracket in order to avoid deformation.
  3. Calculate the length of the product in advance, combine several paintings in one (with a wide window opening).

Compliance with these rules will save time and avoid additional financial costs.

How to assemble a wall curtain

The installation procedure includes the following points:

  1. Measurement of length - it is better to do this by plotting a horizontal line using a level and chalk.
  2. Fix the bracket mounting points at the same distance on the left and right.
  3. Fix the brackets with self-tapping screws, then fix the cornice itself.

Important! When installing the curtain from one wall to another (opposite), you need to make sure that the design will not interfere with the opening of the window.

Assembly instruction

When the walls are sheathed with drywall, it is better not to attach massive structures to them. If there is no other option, then you need to use the longest wood screws (140-150 mm) and try to get them into the metal profile. If this is not possible, then you need to use dowels - for walls made of gypsum, wood, aerated concrete, ordinary plastic dowels are suitable, and for brick partitions - pine.

Curtain with rings

Window textiles on grommets (rings) allows you to create neat symmetrical folds on the fabric. To install the curtain on the rings, you need to take measurements, fix the brackets (for long sheets of more than 2 m you need 3 brackets), place them on them. Then pass the curtains, close the sides of the fastener with decorative caps.

What to look for

With proper installation, the cornice will complement the interior and will perform its practical functions (hold curtains). In order to avoid inconvenience with opening and closing windows or balcony doors, it is necessary to fix the curtain at least 5 cm from the window opening. Also, so that the rings can be easily worn on the bar, the brackets must be mounted 3 cm from the ends.
