- desire to change the interior;
- the need to give a fresh look to the curtain, which has lost snow-white over time.
Existing bleaching agents solve the problem partially and not for long.
A gray or yellowed tulle can be replaced with a new one, or you can give it a second life by repainting it in a new color.
Fabric dyeing is an affordable and common service. Curtains can always be trusted with specialists. However, self-painting has undeniable advantages:
- saving money and time (the process is not time-consuming, time, as a rule, requires much less than delivery and waiting);
- the ability to accurately select the desired color and its intensity.
How can I color the tulle at home
You can add almost any color to the tulle yourself. When choosing a dye, it is advisable to weigh the strengths and weaknesses of each. All colors can be divided into chemical and natural.
Chemical dyes
- wide color palette;
- ease of use compared to natural.
The disadvantages include:
- less sparing attitude to the fabric compared to natural;
- the presence of a pungent odor for some, sometimes long, time after coloring.
Natural materials used for dyeing tulle
There are not many natural colors, but their shades are quite noble, many of them are universal. Coloring is possible with tea, coffee with decoctions of herbs, juices of numerous vegetables and fruits, the most popular is beet juice. The advantages of such dyes:
- sparing attitude to the fabric;
- the smell, if left, is not sharp and quickly disappears.
Disadvantages:
- limited color choice;
- more time-consuming preparation.
Preparing the tulle curtain for painting
Important! Additional attention must be paid to:
- shaking out the curtains before washing, so that there are no small specks that can prevent uniform coloring;
- careful spinning, it’s better not to squeeze it out at all, let it drain out: creases will also impede the uniform distribution of color.
How to dye a tulle at home
Having washed the curtain, we begin the preparation of the dye. The methods differ depending on the one selected.
Aniline dyes
Important! Before use, you must carefully study the instructions and act strictly on it! Failure to comply with the proportions can permanently ruin the tulle.
Zelenka
- drip a small amount of green stuff into a glass;
- fill with water and leave for 5-10 minutes;
- stir;
- if you are not sure that the particles have completely dissolved, it is better to strain before adding to the basin with water.
In a basin, mix warm water and a solution of green stuff. If you do not want to dilute the aqueous solution separately, give Zelenka extra time to completely dissolve directly into the pelvis.
Attention! Concentration depends on the desired shade. If you are unsure how bright the fabric should become, start with a pale solution. If you want to get a brighter color, the procedure can always be repeated with a large amount of dye.
Important! The curtain is placed only in a homogeneous aqueous solution of brilliant green, if you want to increase the concentration, the curtain must be removed from the basin, add and mix color, put the curtain in the basin.
For uniform coloring, the tulle must be rotated. Having received the desired color, rinse.
Potassium permanganate
- dissolve a small amount of potassium permanganate in a glass of water;
- leave for 5 minutes, stir;
- pour warm water into the basin;
- there we filter the concentrated solution of potassium permanganate in an amount sufficient for the desired shade;
- stir;
- soak the tulle;
- for uniform coloring, we constantly turn it over for 15 minutes;
- rinse with cool water.
Tea or coffee
- 1-2 tablespoons of tea or coffee are brewed with boiling water, the amount of boiling water is not important (the usual cup, can), the color will be diluted;
- after 7-10 minutes strain;
- pour water and brewed tea or coffee into the basin, mix, the temperature in the basin should be about 30 ° C;
- soak the tulle, constantly turn;
- Having obtained the desired color of the curtain, rinse it with cool water.
Beetroot
- thoroughly wash or peel the beets;
- we cut it and pour vodka, depending on the expected color saturation, the proportions can be from 0.5 to 1 liter of vodka per 1 kg of beets;
- cook the beets in this solution until cooked (check with a knife);
- filter the solution;
- pour warm water and strained beet broth into the basin;
- soak the curtain, do not forget to turn over;
- when reaching the desired shade with a rinse.
Features of painting kapron tulle
Kapron fiber is more difficult to dye than the rest. To stain kapron with the methods described above, salt must be added to the staining solution. The approximate norm is 1 tablespoon with a slide on 10 liters of water (standard basin).
Painting tulle in the washing machine
- facilitation of manual labor;
- more intensive mixing, respectively uniform coloring.
There are disadvantages:
- usually takes extra time;
- risk of slight staining of white items during subsequent washing.
The principle of coloring is similar to manual:
- shake, pre-wash, but do not wring;
- we dilute the dye according to the instructions (special means) or according to the recommendations (folk);
- pour the concentrate into the drum;
- we put the curtain there;
- choose a washing mode without spinning;
Important! Machine wash only without pre-soaking, otherwise the color may be uneven.
- we take out a curtain, we start the car without rinse without linen.
Fancy Tulle Dyes
There are a lot of natural materials that can color the tulle. Here are some of them and the colors in which they are able to color:
- calendula and dandelion - yellow;
- carrots - orange;
- onion peel - from yellow to brown;
- sorrel and yarrow - green, more natural than greenback;
- blackberry - black.
Conclusion
The choice of product for self-coloring of tulle depends on personal wishes and beliefs, as well as on the presence of certain coloring substances at home. Painting is a way to transform an old curtain that has already "served its purpose." This is a great opportunity for experimentation and self-expression!
