More than once I heard how Russians are surprised that for some reason they are singled out from numerous Europeans or residents of other countries. But why? What my compatriots are doing wrong. I decided to ask my friends from foreigners. The answers were very different, but many said that the opinion is already formed in appearance. I involuntarily recalled that they were greeted by clothes. What is wrong with our clothes?

Mistakes you can't hide

It turns out that, trying to dress as best as possible, “our people” make a number of mistakes that have already become typical.

Style mismatch

Our women and girls, who are deservedly reputed to be one of the most beautiful in the world, often mix evening and casual clothing.

IMPORTANT! Going out into the street, a tourist from the post-Soviet space will certainly dress too nicely. Expensive evening dresses in everyday use - not the best option!

Perhaps many sincerely believe that it is necessary to show in public: and we "do not slurp cabbage soup." You’ll be behind the cordon, pay attention: not a single foreigner, going to the beach, will pick up shale by color for a swimsuit. And if you notice on the sea sand a lady who carries a swimsuit like an evening toilet, be sure: this is clearly “her”.

Poor quality products, fakes for brands

Trying to emphasize the thoroughness and thoughtfulness of the costume, our fellow citizens often fall into the hands of fraudsters. They sell (often not cheaply!) A low-quality fake, which is decorated with self-made labels.

But high-quality clothing often does not have any catchy inscriptions. If a screaming Versace label flaunts a suit, this is almost always the creation of underground couturiers. And they save on everything! Including the quality of the material. And if few people have high-quality items in their wardrobe at home, then in the West everyone immediately becomes aware of the difference between your "branded" clothes and real ones.

Accessories

If we talk about accessories, then it should be noted: our people often do not know the measures in such attributes. If you take, for example, a German woman and put a Russian next to her, then everyone will see the excess jewelry on the second lady. But many brilliant little things are good only on a New Year tree!

TIP ! Remind yourself of a sense of proportion! Do not wear all the gold jewelry at the same time!

Foreigners are very restrained in using not only cosmetics and jewelry, but also various accessories. They will not decorate their own hat with various colors, etc. There will be no additional elements on the purse. Everything will be very restrained and discreet.

Hairstyle and makeup

Do not be surprised that local ladies will seem a little groomed to you. They really do not pay attention to daytime makeup. Being herself, attracting not with her appearance, but with her personality is the norm for foreigners living in the 21st century.

Therefore, if you are fully equipped to go to the beach, a day excursion or shopping, do not be surprised that those around you will unmistakably identify you as a visiting tourist.

What, besides appearance, “betrays” Russians

Behavior, manners, deeds can also become a visiting card of a tourist. Many are characterized by either stiffness in a foreign land, or excessive swagger, unceremoniousness.

Arriving in a foreign country, people who do not know the language are often clamped, shackled. Or, on the contrary, after a few glasses they become too loud, shouting at the waiters. They sort things out with each other so that involuntarily those around them become witnesses of this action.

Talking with children on vacation is another sign of a stranger. Shouts, twitches, prohibitions attract attention and turn rest into unpleasant family showdowns.

How not to look like a black sheep

And here are the tips given by foreign friends. I think that they can be useful not only for me.

1. When going on a trip, you need to think about communication in the language of the country where we are going. Fortunately, now, this is not a problem. Phrasebook, translator in the smartphone can help. So, you need to figure out in advance how to use them. And ideally - find online language courses!
2. Each country lives by its own rules. In order not to get into trouble, you need to get acquainted with customs and traditions in advance.
3. You need to think carefully about your wardrobe. Comfort and convenience should be the main principles of the selection of things. So we will not end up in Europe with its mild winter in a long coat, but take a comfortable puffer jacket. And in the summer we will reduce the number of pairs of stilettos, but be sure to take shoes on a flat sole.
4. We will carefully consider what jewelry to take with you. We limit ourselves to a minimum, picking up accessories that are striking.
5. Cosmetics. We’ll take it anyway. But also a little, because we will use it only in the evening, going to especially solemn events.

Well! There is nothing complicated! And the point is not to imitate foreigners, but to not look ridiculous among them.
