DIY fleece slippers

There are ordinary slippers in the form of slippers in every modern house, since most people do not like to walk barefoot on the floor, even in the hot season. You can buy ordinary slippers with a solid sole in any store or market. Those who want to diversify the assortment of slippers with something more interesting and convenient should try to sew slippers in the form of ballet shoes or boots made of a material such as fleece.

What you need for fleece slippers

Having decided to start sewing fleece slippers, you first need to stock up on supplies. The main consumable for this process will be fabric - fleece.

Important! Fleece is called a synthetic non-woven material that absorbs moisture well, retains heat. It costs a lot less than natural wool or cotton. In fabric stores, fleece is presented in several forms, differing by the manufacturing method and the density of the fabric.

The advantages of fabric include the following:

  • hypoallergenicity;
  • ability to pass air;
  • lightness and crease resistance;
  • durability and wear resistance.

Among the shortcomings are the susceptibility to electrification and the fact that the fleece attracts dust, wool and other small debris. To cope with these disadvantages, the use of special detergents that remove static electricity for washing and caring for various types of fabrics will help.

Interesting! Fleece is used for sewing home and casual clothes for adults and children. Toys, towels, blankets are sewn from him and used for upholstering furniture.

You can buy fabric in any store selling goods for needlework. A large assortment of plain and multi-colored fabrics allows you to choose something suitable for any purpose.

In addition to fabric, to work on tailoring slippers, you will need material for the sole. In order for the product to be fully suitable for continuous use, and not serve as a substitute for socks, it is necessary to find the optimal material that would not slip on the surface of linoleum or tile. Especially important is the presence of non-slip soles in children's slippers. Experienced needlewomen advise using raincoat fabric, leather.cloth, denim and other fabrics of this kind as fabric for the sole.

In addition, you will need:

  • insulation (synthetic winterizer);
  • graph paper for a pattern;
  • dry soap or pencil;
  • needles, threads, pins;
  • scissors;
  • sewing machine.

Also, to decorate the finished product, you may need ribbons, beads, decorative rhinestones and more. If slippers are sewn for children, from the remains of multi-colored felt you can cut out the faces of animals and sew them on toes or heels.

How to build a pattern for slippers from fleece

The construction of a pattern of fleece ballet shoes, as well as boots, should begin by taking measurements from the foot of the person who will wear them. To do this, with the help of a centimeter tape measure the length of the foot.

Important! In most cases, those who wear shoe size 39 have a foot length of 25.7 cm. People with size 38 choose shoes 25-25.5 cm long.

To build a pattern of ballet shoes, just put your foot on the graph paper and circle it with a pencil, leaving a few centimeters at the seams. The upper part can be modeled independently or use a ready-made circuit that needs to be adjusted to fit your parameters. The result should be 2 parts:

  • the outside;
  • upper lining;
  • insoles
  • soles;
  • insulation (if used).

The pattern of the bottom of the boots is done in the same way as for ballet shoes. Part of the toe and heels are cut according to the scheme, given that from the toe to the top the length of the shaft is the same. Height from heel to shaft - 7cm. It is cut out by a rectangle, where the width is 32 cm and the height is 18.

How to sew fleece slippers with your own hands

Phased assembly of fleece ballet shoes looks like this:

  • Top and lining elements are sewn along the heel. Fold face to face, grind along the side seams and twist.
  • The sole details and the insole are folded together inside out, stitched together and attached to the top.
  • The seams are stitched with an overlock and turned upside down.

Assembling fleece boots will take a little longer:

  • The elements of the shaft are connected to the toe and heel.
  • After that, the leg is sutured, leaving the external seams free. In this way, connect the outer and inner parts of the boot (separately).
  • The sole is sewn into all 4 elements, as in the diagram. As a result, two boots should turn out: one with a synthetic winterizer, the second - without.
  • Details are connected in a zigzag stitch.

Important! Each of the elements is folded on top of each other and stitched layers of fleece and a synthetic winterizer acting as a heater. As a result, 4 details come out.

Finished slippers can be decorated with figures cut out of fleece or satin ribbons. Boots are especially interesting and cute, to which long hare ears sewn from the same color are sewn. For inspiration, you can explore various photos with decor.
