Cute do-it-yourself patchwork quilt

Previously, in almost every house you could find a blanket that was sewn from squares. Recently, they again began to be popular. A blanket of squares will be an excellent decoration, complement the interior, made in the style of country, Provence or minimalism. Similar products look quite expensive. You can sew it with your own hands. The result will be a great decoration for an apartment, which will take a little money to sew.

How to make a quilt

It is certainly much more difficult to make a blanket from flaps than usual. But precisely because of this, it becomes more valuable, because you just have to look at the blanket of flaps, as you can immediately see the efforts of the hostess. In order to make such decorations for the apartment, it is necessary to make considerable efforts.

First of all, such bouncers are very reminiscent of those made from scraps. They are very reminiscent of a house in the village of my grandmother, but some of them can be very modern.

Today we want to talk about how to make a blanket from rags, what materials are better to use, whether it is possible to use several fabrics for sewing one product and what to use for stuffing a finished bedspread.

What fabric to choose, can I have different qualities

For such a bedspread, it is not necessary to use a special fabric for patchwork, any material that you like is quite suitable. Maybe a suitable fabric can be found in your home - the remnants of the material after sewing clothes or jewelry for decoration. Just do not use too shabby fabrics.

Each material has its advantages and disadvantages:

  1. Cotton is one of the cheapest options that is great for beginners. From it you can sew bedding and kitchen gloves, curtains and chair covers.
  2. Linen is well suited for lining products. It is very strong, it is convenient to sew things from it, its only drawback is that this material is wrinkled strongly.
  3. Denim material is perfect for a blanket sewn from squares and other interior decorations. Looks great with chintz.
  4. A chintz blanket will look very beautiful, but it is not recommended for beginners to start with it.
  5. Chiffon is also not recommended for beginners.
  6. Wool keeps its shape perfectly, but it is used infrequently for sewing such covers.
  7. How to create a drawing

There are several ways to make a square blanket. Among which:

  • simple blocks;
  • sewing based on the pattern;
  • based on;
  • chaotic pattern.

You can come up with an idea for work yourself or choose a suitable pattern on the Internet. First you need to sketch the sketch. When choosing flowers, you can use the color wheel so as not to miscalculate. For the first work, choose a simple pattern from the squares, and use a fabric of the same texture.

Instructions

To begin, think about how you would like to make a coverlet, and what colors you will choose. When choosing colors, it is advisable to choose colors that harmoniously fit into the interior. Draw up your plan on a piece of paper. It is convenient to sketch in a notebook in a cage.

After that, we lay out the squares as you plan to stitch them.

Note! All material must be washed in advance, dried and ironed. Sew the square together with one thread.

After that, each square is sewn on a typewriter. Next, make a lining. The lining is placed on the hard surface with the wrong side up, and a sealant is applied on top. Smooth over the entire surface. On top of the product is placed from the flaps face up. All edges are chipped with pins.

After this, you need to flash the edges and quilting each square. If you flash on a typewriter, then you can use a curly line, for example large zigzags. Sheathe the edges with tape.

Warming options

The flap blanket consists of three main parts - a beautiful piece top, filler and lining. Without a filler, a blanket can be made.

A synthetic winterizer is often used as a filler. A significant advantage is that after washing the material does not shrink. This suggests that after many washes the blanket will remain the same airy. Of the minuses of the filler, it can be noted that it is artificially created. That is why such a blanket is not recommended for a child.

But you can create a blanket from squares and completely from natural material. Instead of synthetic winterizer, you can use natural fillers - insulation made from natural cotton, which is very light. It is light in color and 2-3 mm thick, does not crumble, which is also a big advantage.

Note! The cotton pad may sit slightly during washing.

Before using it, it is advisable to soak for several hours and dry.

You can also use wool filler, which is 100% natural.

A flap blanket is a great option for manifesting your creative abilities. This bedspread can add a unique touch to both the bedroom and the nursery. And most importantly - you can make such a blanket from improvised material without spending a penny.
